TOEFL, which stands for Test of English as a Foreign Language is another English proficiency test, which is used by students or professionals belonging to areas of the world where English is not a native language to establish their competence in the language. The Pearson Test of English (PTE), Academic is a computer-based academic English language test aimed at non-native English speakers wanting to study abroad.
Part 1: Speaking & Writing (77 – 93 Minutes): To assess speaking, your skills will be tested by your ability to produce spoken English in an academic environment.
Part 2: Reading (32 – 41 Minutes): This single timed section contains 15-20 independent and integrated skills items, depending on the combination of items in a given test. Different response formats, including Fill in the blanks, multiple choice questions, and Re-order paragraphs are designed to test your ability to read, write and listen to information provided in English.
Part 3: Listening (45 – 57 Minutes): It includes: Summarize spoken text, Multiple choice questions, Fill in the blanks, Highlight the correct summary, Multiple choice questions, Select missing word, Highlight incorrect words and Write from dictation
There may be five reading passages in some versions of the test. Listening
The listening section of the TOEFL measures your ability to understand conversations and Lecture in English. You will be tested in your comprehension of the general ideas and supporting details of the conversations and lectures. You will also be asked to identify a speaker’s purpose in making a particular statement and a speakers attitude forward a particular topic.
There may be an extra conversation and two extra lectures in some version of the text. Speaking Section
The speaking section measures your ability to speak in English about a variety of topics. There are six questions in this section. All of the questions are about topics that are appropriate for international studies. You do not need special knowledge of any subject to respond to the questions.
The writing section of the TOEFL measures your ability to pan and write Reponses to questions in easy format. You must be able to select and convey relevant information, organize and support ideas and demonstrate that yo can use English effectively.
